Here’s where I get on my soapbox for a second. Because people love to yap and make sweeping statements about social that just aren’t true

THE LIES

  • Organic social isn't worth the effort unless you're a big name. Forget about it. 

  • All you have to do is use AI to repurpose webinars and blogs, that’s good enough!

  • We have to go viral!!!

THE TRUTHS

  • Organic social can be a valuable channel for any size or stage of company – but you have to understand what you want out of it.

  • LinkedIn has a unique algorithm, personality, and quirks of its own. What works for your blog or webinars won’t necessarily work on LinkedIn. 

  • If you think social is just about going viral and making memes, it’s not the right time to invest in this channel.


Social media, like Walt Whitman, contains multitudes.

Your LinkedIn presence is part community-building hub, brand awareness channel, sales platform, ads channel, customer support desk, knowledge base, and lecture hall (just to name a few of the big ones.)

Treat it accordingly. 

So if we’re in alignment about the TRUTHs of being active on social, let’s continue!
